Many leaking cracks in poured Bucks County basement walls can be sealed from inside in a single visit. Ports are fixed along the crack, the surface is sealed, and resin is injected from the bottom up until it fills the crack through the full thickness of the wall.

Polyurethane or epoxy

Polyurethane foam reacts with water, expands and stays flexible, which suits a damp shrinkage crack that leaks. Epoxy cures hard and bonds the concrete back together, so it's used where strength matters. The estimate should name the product and explain why.

How the injection goes

The contractor cleans the crack, glues ports along it every few inches and seals the face with a paste. Resin is pumped in at the lowest port until it shows at the next, then the next, so the crack fills from bottom to top. After curing, the ports are snapped off and the paste can be ground flush if the wall will be finished.

When to call an engineer first

Horizontal cracks, inward bowing, stair-step cracks in block and cracks that keep growing point to soil pressure or settlement. In those cases a structural engineer should assess the wall before anyone seals it, and the repair may need bracing.

The Pennsylvania paperwork

Crack repair is home improvement work under Pennsylvania law. A job over $500 needs a written contract carrying the contractor's HIC registration number, no payment may be taken before it is signed, and you have three business days to cancel. If the house may be sold, ask whether the warranty transfers.

Crack Injection and Repair questions

Is crack injection a one-day job in Bucks County?

For a single leaking crack in a poured wall, usually. Several cracks, block walls or structural concerns take longer and may need other work.

Will sealing cracks help with radon?

It closes some entry points, but radon also enters through sumps, joints and other openings. Test before and after, and use a DEP-certified installer if levels are high.

Can block wall cracks be injected?

Not reliably, because water travels through the hollow cores. Bucks County block basements usually need drainage at the wall base instead.
